The weather has been terrific so far, those record-breaking warm September days have helped to keep the sweatshirts and winter jackets hidden away for now! St. Pat’s students across all grade levels are jumping into their curriculum with different themes and many cross-curricular activities from ‘colours in K to ‘butterflies’ in grade 1 as well as ‘exploring authors’ in grade 2. Many of our Grade 6’s participated in the annual LBPSB ‘Ultimate Frisbee’ tourney in early September with the ‘Handball’ tournament and the grades 4 – 6 ‘Cross Country Run’ on the schedule for October. Outdoor education classes have already ventured over to Shamrock Park and there is much on tap for the rest of the fall season. Great things going on!

Our 2nd annual Terry Fox Run with Edgewater Elementary was another HUGE success – we came together showing such strong and dedicated school community support and together, both school communities raised over $12,000 in support of Terry’s vision to help battle cancer. More info and pics about our TFR in the Photo Gallery and on our FB page.

The school play auditions are well underway and the grade 3 – 6 students participating in this years’ production of Seussical, Jr. in April 2018 have already begun their practices after school… it will absolutely be another amazing student performance not to be missed! We also look ahead to October 31st – a day of Hallowe’en activities lead by our grade 6 students – the haunted hallway will once again come to life at St. Pat’s. The school is abuzz with educational activities in every grade level with reading buddies, robotics, training for the Math Olympics, violins, phys. ed. games and so much more.

Our parent volunteers have been supporting our staff and students across the school! Here are a few examples where they help to bring that community spirit into the hallways and classrooms at St. Pat’s – helping in the library, assisting in our daily reading programs in the younger grades, attending GB meetings, participating in our Home & School meetings and organizing everything during the pizza/subway lunches. This amazing community support is what makes St. Pat’s such a special place to be. If you are interested in getting involved, you can always contact our Home & School committee members or see Ms. Pompeo for detailed information.

Keep checking our school calendar for all of the latest field trips, committee meetings and school events. A reminder that the Interim Report Card will be available through the FUSION PORTAL as of 2:30pm on Friday, October 13th, 2017. Mark your calendar for the parent-teacher interviews November 16th and 17th – more details to come! The Photo Gallery has new photos already uploaded – before we know it the snow will be falling and we will be getting ready for our annual H&S Christmas Lunch and Santa Store! Here’s to a terrific start and tons of great things to come…

Sincerely,

Mr. Rabinovitch, Principal
