The Arts Come Alive @ St. Pat’s

On Wednesday, May 4th, our school community enjoyed the 1st annual Art Gala – a presentation of some amazing artwork created by our very own daycare students across all grade levels. These pieces of art could have been showcased in any museum or art gallery around the world – if you had the chance to drop by during the viewing, you know how true that is! A very special ‘thank you’ goes out to Ms. Mary, our daycare technician, and all of her talented daycare staff – their combined inspiration, guidance and unbelievable creativity made for an awesome daycare gala presentation of their student’s masterpieces.

Spring sports are sensational at St. Pat’s! Our Cycle 3 students have been busy getting fit and honing their athletic skills. Mme Murphy took a group of her grade 5 students over to PCHS to participate in their annual Indoor Soccer Tourney. It was a great day with tons of soccer - and although no one keeps score, our players did very well on the indoor pitch - great team work!

Ms. Melany and Mr. Patterson supported a cast of grade 5 & 6 students who had a great time participating in the LBPSB Basketball Tournament over at Evergreen Elementary. Our students showcased their basketball skills and played great – what a fun day. Next up is the annual Track & Field Day over at Riverdale – Ms. Melany has been practicing with the Cycle 3 students who are eager to strive for placement ribbons for each event during the competition!

Don’t forget to get your tickets to the annual St. Pat’s performers rendition of PETER PAN, JR. Ms. Jen and her amazing crew of staff are working diligently and tirelessly with an awesome group of dedicated drama students from grades 3 through 6 as they practice each week in preparation for their shows. There is a matinee on Wednesday, May 18th and an evening performance in our school gym on Thursday, May 19th. It promises to be another phenomenal show that no one should miss!

We look ahead to many field trips in the months of May and June. The grade 3’s head off to an Iroquoian Village, our grade 4’s will take in some artistic lessons as they travel downtown to the Musée des Beaux Arts, as will our Cycle 1 students – they will have their own field trip to the Musée des Beaux Arts for their own activities. The grade 5’s will head down to the Science Centre and our year-end overnight trips include trips eastward as our grade 5’s head to Quebec City and our ‘Grads of 2016’ are off to Jouvence. Let’s not forget the Pool Days – while we swim rain or shine, let’s hope we get a glorious week of sunshine to make the Pool Days that much more refreshing!

The final term of the 2015-16 school year is quickly racing by…hold on tight, we have tons in store as we wind down another outstanding school year!
