Outdoor Education after 30cm of Snow!

Ms. Clarke took out all of her classes today for "Snow Sculptures" and "Deep Snow Movement". Nothing like a huge snowfall to make the great outdoors AWESOME! Here are some pics of the grade 5s doing their best in the snow.

Cycle 3 – Cross Country Skiing @ Skieurs de L’Ile

Thanks to Ms. Clarke, Ms. Macro, Ms. Tracey, Mr. Patterson and Ms. C, many of our grade 5 and 6’s enjoyed the chance to ski after school on some of the local trails in Pincourt. What an awesome outdoor extra-curricular activity – and with the snowfall in mid-February, the trails were terrific. The weather was outstanding and the exercise was tremendous. Enjoying the outdoors during the winter season – always A1 at St. Pat’s!!!

Grade 6s vs. Staff – After-School Volleyball

What a fun and athletic way to end the week – several of our grade 6’s took on the staff after school today…volleyball was the game. No one kept score but the games were close, the students won a few and the staff edged out a victory or two! Awesome competition and fun was the end result closing out a snowy week at St. Pat’s!

The 100th day of school in K is always special…

The kindergartens dressed up as 100 year olds and counted by 10's to 100 with objects they brought in from home. Always fun to celebrate the 100th day of school together.

The 5th annual Jr. Leadership Day for Cycle 3 elementary school students took place on February 10th, 2017 at Westpark Elementary. Over 250 grades 5 & 6 students from all 31 of our LBPSB elementary schools came together for a conference focusing on leadership skills. A highlight of the conference was the numerous groups of LBPSB high school student-presenters. St. Pat’s sent 10 ambassadors to represent our amazing school community. Spencer West gave an inspirational keynote address to all of the elementary and high school students.

Winter and Penguins in Mme Lyne’s Classes

We have been learning about fiction and non-fiction books. We read non-fiction books about penguins and we also read the Tacky the Penguin series of fiction books. Tacky is an odd bird that wears a flower print top, is loud and does not march in order like his penguin friends. Although Tacky is different, he always finds a way to save the day!

To ensure that the students all were able to meet Tacky, Miss Jean sewed 2 Tacky finger puppets. Every night one student brings Tacky home and gets to show Tacky all of the things that are done at home. The student completes a page in the Tacky note book and explains what they did together. The students can also take photos with Tacky, email them to me and I show the class all of Tacky's wonderful adventures.

Virtues Assembly on “Kindness” – Grade 6’s Lead the Way

The St. Pat’s VIRTUES PROGRAM is in full swing. During Friday’s assembly we honoured 1 student per class who had demonstrated the virtue of ‘courage’ – our virtue of focus during term 1. Also at today's’ assembly, our grade 6’s, with the support of their teachers, defined the virtue of ‘kindness’. They performed a skit and created an activity where every student helped to fill our school bucket with words and pictures of ‘KINDESS’. A terrific student-led initiative reinforcing the values and virtues that we all aim to have.
