Principal's Message

Summer 2019

Dear Parents and Families of St. Patrick Elementary,

On behalf of the entire staff at St. Patrick Elementary, we would like to thank you for your ongoing support throughout the school year. The team at St. Pat’s believe that the successes that each student achieves during their years at school are directly connected to the cooperation and collaboration maintained between teachers and parents. A final ‘Thank You!’ to all of our parent volunteers – from classroom and library support, field trips and special activities, our Governing Board, our amazing Home & School Committee members and so much more – your commitment and involvement at St. Pat’s makes this one special community school!

Please note that the school office will be closed as of Thursday, July 4th, 2019 at 11:30am. We will be back in full gear on Monday, August 12th, 2019, when our school office reopens after the summer break.

Be sure to mark your calendars for our Parent Curriculum Night that will be held on Thursday, September 5th, 2019 at 5:30pm. Remember that this is a ‘parent only’ event. This is an important parent evening when our teachers outline the curriculum that will be delivered in the classroom during the year. The Annual General Assembly of our Governing Board will be held during the Parent Curriculum Night. Classes resume for all of our students on Friday, August 30th, 2019. Our Kindergarteners will follow a ‘staggered entry’ and parents will receive a letter outlining how our newest students begin their school year in mid-August.

It has been another OUTSTANDING school year and we want to again thank all of you for all of your support during the 2018-2019 school year. We look forward to another fantastic school year together when we all return at the end of the summer!

We started off in September with our Home & School ‘Welcome Back’ BBQ and ended the month with the 2nd annual Terry Fox Run fundraiser with our neighbours over at Edgewater Elementary. In October, we celebrated Hallowe’en as a school and in November, we honoured our Veteran’s with our annual Remembrance Day ceremony. Our H&S hosted their annual Scholastic Book Fair during the P/T interview evening. In December we celebrated in style with our annual Christmas Lunch/Santa Store – another outstanding H&S/Volunteer event - which was once again another huge success!



January began with our amazing Open House for new families. Our Class of 2019 skied on their 1st Grad Trip over at Mt. Rigaud and we all had a terrific time enjoying our snow-mountain in the middle of the school yard. February saw several of our cycle 3 leaders joined over 300 fellow students at the 7th annual LBPSB Jr. Leadership Conference. In March we showcased our 3rd annual ‘Celebration of Learning’ and our traditionally GREEN St. Paddy’s Day celebration. April and May were packed with educational field trips across different grade levels. The amazing talents of our senior students who performed in our drama production of Getting to Know… Once Upon a Mattress was another highlight of this past spring season.


In June, the grade 5’s headed out to Quebec City and we enjoyed a terrific Splash Day organized by our staff and the H&S. We closed out the year with our Virtues Assembly and several athletic senior students went over to Riverdale to participate in the LBPSB’s annual Track & Field event. Once again St. Pat’s participated in the Jr. Cross Country Run and the Kindergarten ‘Wheel-a-Thon’ was a huge success for a third year in a row – our school community came together to raise money in support of the MUC in honour of two of our students – a tremendous school community endeavour! The grade 3’s visited an Iroquoian Village and our grade 6’s were OUTSTANDING at their Graduation on June 21st. WOW…SIMPLY SENSATIONAL!!!



Another unbelievable school year together! Terrific memories and amazing learning opportunities crammed into our most amazing and awesomely special school called “ST. PAT’S”!
